In alignment with the guidelines issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to promote democratic values and active citizenship among students, KENNEDY HIGH the global school organized a Youth Parliament Session on 28 August 2025.
The event aimed to provide students with hands-on experience of parliamentary proceedings, instilling in them a sense of responsibility, leadership, teamwork, encouraging critical thinking, debate, and logical expression of views, along with enhancing awareness about constitutional values, governance, and current issues.
The Session began with the Opening Ceremony wherein, the Academic Director and Senior Principal, Ms. Rajyalaxmi Bhat addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of parliamentary democracy.
Students were assigned roles such as Prime Minister, Speaker, Cabinet Ministers, Opposition Leaders, and Members of Parliament. And the Speaker of the House presided over the session.
During the ensuing discussion, questions were raised during the Question Hour by the Opposition. The ruling party members responded to queries on issues concerning education, development, and youth welfare. A Bill on One Nation and One Election was introduced and debated upon, with active participation from both ruling and opposition benches. Amendments and suggestions were discussed before the Bill was passed by majority vote.
The Speaker adjourned the House after summarizing the key takeaways. Students reflected on their experiences, emphasizing the value of dialogue, respect for diverse opinions, and democratic practices. Through this session, students gained practical exposure to the functioning of the Indian Parliament and it enhanced their confidence, leadership, and debating skills. They became more aware of pressing social and environmental issues and the activity successfully fostered civic sense and respect for democracy.
The Youth Parliament Session held on 28 August 2025 at KENNEDY HIGH the global school was a resounding success. Conducted in accordance with CBSE guidelines, the program not only enriched students’ understanding of the democratic framework but also prepared them to become responsible citizens and future leaders of the nation.
