SECONDARY STUDENTS, WELLNESS TEACHERS AND SCHOOL COUNSELLOR ATTEND CBSE WEBINAR ON PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID - 2025

The CBSE webinar on Psychological First Aid (PFA) held on 19 November 2025. It was attended by a few wellness teachers, the school Counselor, and secondary students. Prof. (Dr.) Daya Pant, Former Head, Department of Educational Psychology & Foundations of Education, NCERT introduced the LOOK–LISTEN–LINK framework and demonstrated how educators can identify emotional distress, listen empathetically, and support children nonjudgmentally.

She explained practical strategies to address trauma, anxiety, aggression, stubborn behavior, and classroom challenges through sensitivity and firm yet caring guidance. Participants were oriented to essential dos and don’ts of PFA such as ensuring safety, listening non-judgmentally and empowering children with choices.

The webinar emphasized resilience-building practices, including journaling, identifying strengths, breathing exercises, and daily emotional-readiness routines which can be used as daily classroom practices. Dr. Pant also highlighted the significance of self-care for students and all stakeholders, recommending mindfulness breaks, balanced routines, digital–wellness habits, healthy sleep cycles, healthy diet, and reaching out to trusted adults and seeking help.

Dr. Pant highlighted the importance of hand-holding during crises—being calm, present, and emotionally available for children facing sudden trauma, anxiety, or behavioural breakdowns. She emphasized that teachers must not only guide students but also work on their own reactions, learning to stay composed, and gentle, and grounded when uncertainties arise so they can model emotional stability and effectively administer Psychological First Aid.

Overall, the session was concise, informative, and empowering, strengthening the school’s ongoing commitment to creating a compassionate, resilient, and emotionally supportive learning environment.
