The Bharatiya Bhasha Camp 2026 was organised in KENNEDY HIGH the global school to foster linguistic awareness and cultural appreciation among Class V students. The camp commenced on 2 September with Day 1 activities and concluded on 16 September 2026 with Day 7 activities. Tamil, one of the classical languages of India, was chosen as the focus of this camp. Across seven days, students engaged in various activities that helped them learn basic Tamil vocabulary, phrases and cultural elements. The camp not only enhanced their language skills but also instilled values of resilience, curiosity and respect for diversity.
Students were introduced to Tamil through simple and engaging exercises. They learnt to count the first ten numbers in Tamil and practised basic greetings and everyday phrases. This session laid the foundation for their journey into the language.
The second day began with a recap of the previous session. Students participated in short roleplays, enacting conversations such as greetings and buying fruits or vegetables from a seller. This activity encouraged confidence in speaking and applying Tamil in practical contexts.
Students learnt the lyrics of a Tamil song ‘Rise of the Dragon’ centred on resilience. Singing together with teachers created a lively atmosphere and helped them appreciate the rhythm and beauty of Tamil. The theme of resilience also conveyed an important life lesson.
Pictures of fruits and vegetables were shown to students and they learnt their names in Tamil. This visual approach made vocabulary acquisition easier and more memorable, linking words to familiar objects.
Students watched the comedy short film ‘Chain Reaction’. Through humour, the film highlighted the idea that every action has consequences. This activity tied language learning with a moral lesson.
A PowerPoint presentation introduced students to historical monuments and major rivers of Tamil Nadu. This session broadened their cultural knowledge, helping them understand the geographical and historical significance of the state.
The camp concluded with a quiz based on all the topics covered during the camp. Students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their learning and retention.
