The educational tour to Kerala commenced on 20 September2025, as students from class VII-XII and grades 7-10, along with accompanying teachers departed from Hyderabad and arrived at Kochi Airport, stepping into what is fondly known as "God's Own Country." Upon arrival, the group undertook a six-hour scenic bus journey to Munnar, which proved to be both enjoyable and enlightening. Nothing could compare to the scenic beauty of Kerala - the lush greenery, misty hills, and calm atmosphere truly justified its title as God's Own Country. On the way, students witnessed the beauty of the Cheeyappara Waterfalls, a mesmerizing sight that captured everyone’s attention. The day concluded with a lively bonfire night, featuring music and dance, which established bonding and a joyful atmosphere.
On 21 September 2025, the group visited the Eravikulam National Park, home to the rare Nilgiri Tahr (mountain goats) found only in this region. Surrounded by rolling hills and cool mountain air, the visit offered students a close connection with nature. The next stop was the Tata Tea Museum, where students learned about the tea-making process and bought fresh tea dust and chocolates, two of Munnar’s specialties. In the evening, everyone attended a Kathakali dance performance, which beautifully showcased Kerala's rich cultural and artistic heritage.
The journey continued on 22 September 2025, as the group travelled to Thekkady, a four-hour drive through picturesque landscapes. Along the way, they visited the Idukki Dam, gaining valuable insight into one of India’s major hydroelectric projects. Later, the Spice Garden and Honey Bee Farm visits gave students an opportunity to learn about Kerala's agricultural traditions and natural products. The highlight of the day was the Kalaripayattu martial art show, which left everyone amazed by the power and grace of this ancient traditional art form.
On the final day, after a six-hour drive back to Kochi, the group explored several landmarks, including the Church of St. Francis (where Vasco da Gama was initially buried), along with the famous Chinese Fishing Nets and the vibrant local town markets. The tour concluded with a memorable Kochi Harbour Cruise, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Finally, on 24 September 2025, the group flew back to Hyderabad, carrying with them countless unforgettable memories. The travel, accommodation, food, and arrangements were excellent. Overall, the trip to Kerala was a perfect blend of fun, learning, and cultural discovery, an experience that every participant will cherish for years to come.
