Swachhata Pakhwada Observed at KENNEDY HIGH from 1-15 September 2024
On 2 September 2024, all the students of KENNEDY HIGH the global school from Pre-Primary to Class XII, took the Swachhata Shapath in their class. The students also spoke about the importance of keeping the environment green and clean, along with maintaining personal hygiene. Swachhata awareness messages and banners on Swachhata Pakhwada were posted on the school website.
Swachhata Awareness Day saw KENNEDY HIGH the global school teachers inspecting sanitary facilities in each and every corner of the school and checked the functioning of hand wash facility, cleaning and disinfection, toilet/ urinal use, water facility uses and waste management to ensure everything was in order. Taps and water supply pipes were inspected and repairs done immediately wherever any small leakage was found.
Toilets, kitchen, classrooms, fans, doors, windows were cleaned thoroughly. The campus and the grounds were also checked for cleanliness. Old office files were weeded out and all kinds of waste material, broken furniture, unusable equipment, etc. were completely removed from the premises of school.
Students of KENNEDY HIGH the global school, celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5 September 2024, remembering the legacy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great scholar, philosopher, and the second President of India, on his Birth anniversary. The students also took this opportunity to express their gratitude and appreciation towards the teachers for their invaluable contribution towards education. Students paid rich tributes to their teachers through heart-warming speeches, melodious songs, soulful poetry and energetic dance performances, making the teachers feel very special.
On 6 September 2024, the Science teachers joined hands with Eco club members, to promote water conservation. Through interactive sessions students were sensitized about the reasons as to why it is the duty of every human being to use water judiciously and conserve water. The students also learnt to protect the natural sources of water and minimize wastage of water in the school premises, home and other places too. Class discussions were held on eliminating single use plastic.
Essay writing competition, poem competition, elocution competition (in both English and Telugu), painting and slogan writing competition was held for class III-XI, on themes related to cleanliness and hygiene. An engaging Nukkad Natak on Swachhata was performed by middle school students. Other than this, quizzes were conducted for Primary classes and debates for the senior classes. Students enjoyed the experience and showcased their creative talent through these competitions and activities.
On 9 and 10 September 2024, Pre-Primary and Primary teachers took on the responsibility of educating the students on proper methods and steps of hand washing with soap before and after eating, as well as before and after using the washroom.
Talks were held in the classes by EVS and Science teachers about water borne diseases/diseases, the importance of safe handling of drinking water and practising proper hand washing, along with special emphasis on not wasting water.
On 11 September 2024, videos were shown to the students of Pre-Primary and Primary students to motivate students to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness. Later, students of class V invited the ayammas on duty on their floor and explained the concept and importance of personal hygiene as well as maintaining cleanliness to them, using the audio-visual aid.
Students learnt about the correct way of cutting and keeping nails clean, daily bathing with clean water, wearing clean clothes, not spitting in the open, wearing shoes/ slippers, the hygienic manner of using toilets and drinking water facilities and the importance of brushing teeth twice a day.
Students from class VIII, led by Peer educators went on an awareness drive, raising slogans on cleanliness.
On 12 September 2024, KENNEDY HIGH the global school organized an exhibition based on entries from the Essay competition, Slogan competition, Poem writing competition, Painting competition, Elocution competition, Craft and Models using recycled material by students on Swachhata. Over 200 students from the Primary section visited the exhibition and this exhibition was also displayed on the School’s website.
On 13 September 2024, the Student Council members, Peer educators and the Teachers of Student Council committee met to discuss the Swachhata Pakhwada activities in the school. The Councilmembers and Peer educators gave suggestions going paperless for a day, making the school totally plastic free, conserving more water, using colour coded dustbins on every floor and holding more awareness campaigns on Swachhata throughout the year. In addition, Peer educators from class VIII took out a rally spreading the message of Swachhata throughout the school.
The Prize distribution for participation of students in Swachhata Pakhwada competitions viz. Painting, Essay writing, Poem writing, Slogan writing, Elocution and Craft was held in the school premises on 14 September 2024. Principal, Mrs. Rajyalaxmi Bhat gave away the prizes and the summary of all the activities was posted on the school website.
