In the month of October 2024, the main theme was Self-Management, the second component of Socio Emotional Learning, and the sub-themes were Gratitude and Empathy.
Class II
Class II students honed their creativity cap to write poems on self-compassion and gratitude using rhyming words. The purpose of the activity was to encourage students to reflect on the importance of being kind to themselves and appreciating the positive aspects of their lives. In conclusion the students inspired each other with their heartfelt poems.
Class III
Class III students did the ‘Gratitude Bird’ activity, where they drew a bird and then listed things they are grateful for. The activity helped the students to reflect on the positive aspects of their lives and express appreciation for them. By recognizing and appreciating the good things in their lives, the students learned the importance of gratitude in enhancing their overall well-being.
Class IV
Class IV students took part in the ‘Self-Compassion Pledge’ activity. The purpose of the activity was to encourage students to develop kindness towards themselves and understand the importance of self-care. By participating, students learned to develop a more positive self-image.
Class V
Class V students wrote a letter expressing their gratitude to someone who had made a positive impact on their lives. The purpose of the activity was to encourage students to reflect on the people who have influenced them positively and to practice expressing gratitude in a thoughtful way. This activity not only enhanced their writing skills but also reinforced the importance of gratitude in managing themselves.
Class VIII
Students of Class VIII read a short story on empathy and did the ‘In Your Boots’ activity to understand the different ways to show empathy. The purpose of the activity was to help students put themselves in someone else's shoes and understand others' feelings and perspectives. As a result, the students became more aware of the importance of empathy to look at the world from other people’s perspectives.
