TEACHERS FROM KENNEDY HIGH ATTEND CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)-2026

A Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Social Emotional Learning was held on 5 June 2026 at KENNEDY HIGH by CBSE resource persons. Dr. Sunir Nagi and Dr. Kavita Trivedi. This highly interactive and activity-based programme was attended by 60 teachers and enabled participants to understand the practical implementation of 'SEL' in the classroom.

The First Session was conducted by Dr. Sunir Nagi, who introduced the concept of SEL. The session commenced with an engaging emotional activity that encouraged participants to identify and express their feelings, which was followed by the Mood Tracker activity. Ms. Nagi elaborated on the five competencies of SEL: Self-awareness, Self-management, Social awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision-making. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive classroom learning environment and also shared various strategies like daily Emotional check-ins, reflection activities, mindfulness and circle time discussion and collaborative and cooperative learning.

The session also focused on practical measures to bring SEL into classroom management such as establishing positive classroom norms and expectations, building strong teacher-student relationships, promoting emotional safety and reinforcing positive behavior through appreciation.

In Session II, Dr. Kavitha Trivedi focused on the Implementation of SEL across different stages of Education: Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary. She explained age-appropriate activities and pedagogical approaches for each stage, supported by real-life examples. Through activities such as role-plays, debates, poster presentations, mind-maps, and group discussions, she further deepened the understanding of SEL through video-based activities.

The workshop was highly engaging and insightful, equipping teachers with practical tools and strategies to implement in classrooms for students' emotional well-being, interpersonal skills, and holistic development.
