A Fireless Cooking Activity was organized to help students learn basic cooking skills and develop healthy eating habits, without using fire.
Cooking without fire falls under Project 1, ‘Work in human services,’ under Kaushal Bodh.
The classes began with an introduction to the importance of nutritious food, hygiene, and safety and waste segregation while preparing food. This hands-on activity introduced learners to essential culinary skills, nutrition, kitchen safety and teamwork, without the risk of handling flame or high heat. Students learned basic food preparation, tool handling, and measurement techniques necessary for daily life.
Students prepared dishes like fruit salad, sprout chaat, bhel, sandwiches and beverages using fresh ingredients brought from home. As a team, they focused on cleanliness, nutrition, presentation, and teamwork. The activity taught students how to make quick, healthy snacks and use raw ingredients creatively. They also learnt time management, zero-waste practices and how to dispose the kitchen waste.
Students were very creative in food presentation and communicated well with each other. They practiced teamwork and followed hygiene measures during the activity. Overall, students enjoyed the activity and learned the value of healthy food, hygiene, collaboration and teamwork in a fun, practical way.
