Shiksha Saptah (DAY 1, 22 July 2024, TLM Day-Report)

As part of the Shiksha Saptah celebration, to mark the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy
(NEP) 2020, KENNEDY HIGH the global school conducted various activities to foster collaboration and
innovation among learners and educators.

Foundation stage – Pre-Primary I, Pre-Primary II, Class I and class II

Thumb and Hand painting activity was held for pre-primary children.
199 children and 16 teachers were involved in this activity
Children enjoyed this activity with their thumb / hand impressions on images of fish, chicks, crabs and flamingos.
Focus was on sensory learning and developing fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, encouraging creativity and imagination to build confidence.

By incorporating thumb painting and finger print activities in class I and II, a dynamic and interactive learning environment was created to support the development of language skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
Math-Students did thumb printing on Single digit addition using an abacus. They counted the numbers and did addition and put the thumb impression on the abacus line. The students used two different colours to identify the individual numbers and the sum. Motor skills, pattern and colour recognition were the learning outcomes.
EVS- Making a Flower bouquet using THUMB PRINTING In this activity the students were told to mix colour and give thumb impression to create the petals of flowers and to draw the stems, leaves etc with colour pencils to show the parts of plants. This helped them develop their skills like creativity, self- expression, colour recognition and fine motor skills.

328 students and 15 teachers participated in the activities.

Preparatory stage- Class III-V
As part of TLM Day, the students of Preparatory Classes (III-V) participated in Storytelling and Reading activities. The unique warmth in which the facilitators narrated the story, left the children spellbound. Listening with rapt attention, they were introduced to the basics of theatrical movements, voice modulation, and the rhythm of storytelling. The main objective of the activity was to develop communication skills and expand the realm of their imagination.
The Reading comprehension segment activated and reinforced the students’ writing skills, grammar,
vocabulary, and punctuation skills. Overall, it was a great learning experience that the children thoroughly enjoyed.

A total of 22 teachers and 633 students participated in these activities.

Secondary classes-IX & X
Class IX –
Hindi

दुख का अधिकार-चित्र देखकर कहानी बोलना

The activity presented in the class helped students to build confidence, and remove stage fear. Communication skills and body language was also developed through this activity. Imagination and perception of different students helped them to understand the concept better.
A total of 187 students and 5 teachers participated in this activity.

Social Science-
Teachers made story cards related to Chapter-1 Economics The story of village Palampur, on factors of production, Green Revolution etc, where students after collecting the card shared a story with the class what they understood by looking at the picture.
187 students participated in this activity along with 4 teachers.

Mathematics-
The self- explanatory cards activity presented in the class helped the students to think, relate the concept of Euclids Geometry to real life context, develop critical thinking, build confidence, apply appropriate criterion, and also their Communication skills. 187 students and 3 teachers participated in this activity.


Class X
English-
a. Story Flash Cards on THE MAKING OF A SCIENTIST.
The Teacher read the Chapter with the students in the classroom and explained the content, theme, vocabulary and phrases through FLASH CARDS.
b. Clue cards and Brainstorming through visual content and data on the Poem - For Anne Gregory
The aim of this activity was to capture the main idea and central theme of the poem For Anne Gregory through clues and
content which made the students retrospect and evaluate their views on beauty in general and enabled them to
understand that true beauty is inner beauty not the appearance.

Social Science-
Story cards related to Chapter-4 Agriculture, were created wherein students after collecting the card shared a story with the class what they understood by looking at the picture.
208 students and 3 teachers participated in this activity.

Mathematics-
The self- explanatory cards activity presented in the class helped the students to think, relate the concept of Similar Triangles to real life context, develop critical thinking, build confidence, apply appropriate criterion, and also their Communication skills. 208 students and 3 teachers participated in this activity.

Senior Secondary- Class XII (Science and Commerce)
Class XII
1. Commerce-The concept of financial market and how the financial system works in the country was discussed, using teaching learning material like posters and slogans. All 12 students from Class XII Commerce stream participated along with their teacher in this activity.
2. Physics-A crossword puzzle was used as TLM, based on the chapters of Electrostatics & Current Electricity. The students took part very actively and got all the answers correct. This increased their knowledge & thinking capacity. 27 students and one teacher participated in this activity.
3. Mathematics- Puzzles activity presented in the class helped the students to think, relate the concept of Inverse trigonometric functions to real life context, develop critical thinking, build confidence, apply appropriate criterion, and also honed their imagination.
4. Biology- Sexual reproduction in flowering plants: Created crossword puzzles with clues related to reproductive organs and types of reproduction, pollination etc. Students were able to complete the puzzle based on their learning in the class room during teaching. This activity reinforced terminology and also encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the learner.
5. Chemistry- Activity: Puzzles on some basic concepts of chemistry. 32 students participated in the activity along with their teacher, with full enthusiasm and learnt the concepts clearly.
