SHIKSHA SAPTAH REPORT- Day 5: Skilling Day(July 26, 2024)

KENNEDY HIGH the global school observed Skilling Day as a part of Shiksha Saptah celebrations on July 26, 2024 to empower students and to foster a well-rounded skill-based education, keeping NEP 2020 in mind. The following activities were conducted as part of this celebration-
A. Entrepreneurship development programme was held for classes VI-VIII. The students were exposed to a PowerPoint Presentation on choosing Entrepreneur Skills as a career choice. The students created and enacted an ad-campaign for a fast-moving consumer product. The programme encouraged students to develop a mindset that promotes creativity, freedom, problem-solving, invention, and strategic risk-taking.
A total of 624 students and 4 teachers participated in the above programme.

B. Design Thinking Workshop was conducted for students of Class VI and VII. Class VI students were introduced to the elements of Design followed by a puppet show and roleplay by the students to capture the elements of design in the puppets. Class VII students were asked to brainstorm ideas and design a product in order to adapt the existing products like a pencil or pen to meet the requirements of the present world. Through these activities, the students embraced design thinking and innovation and the concept of Sustainable Development Goals to adopt the skills of empathy, creative thinking, critical thinking and problem-solving when using innovative ideas to design something to solve real life problems.
A total of 430 students and 4 teachers participated in this workshop.

C. Discussion on sustainable environmental practices using digital media was done in Class VI.
The students revisited the topic ‘Sustainable Development Goals and their Importance’ through a short power point presentation. The students brought environmental awareness and sustainability to the forefront as they discussed the importance of sustainable environmental practices by playing a board game in class using the smart class.
A total of 210 students and 3 teachers were involved in this activity.

D. Financial Literacy- A person either disciplines his FINANCES, or his FINANCES discipline him. This was was the theme under "Financial Literacy " on Day 5 of Shiksha Saptah celebration. Students of class X and students of class VI-VIII, were involved in the discussion to understand the market forces and the behaviour of the market. Using videos and real- life examples, the significance of budget, savings, spending habits and consumption pattern was explained. The students also learnt about demand and supply of commodities in the market and the price mechanism. The take away from this interactive session was that, it's not the salary that makes you rich, it's your spending habits.

A total of 912 students and 12 teachers participated in this session.

E. Technology in Education Divas- The school arranged viewing of a few videos telecast by PM e-Vidya channel for students of class VI-XII, as directed.

A total of 1263 students and 40 teachers watched these videos.
