Fire Safety and First Aid Awareness Session
Kennedy High the Global School organised a comprehensive Fire Safety and First Aid Awareness Session for students of Classes IX to XII with the objective of promoting safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and responsible action during crises. The programme aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and essential life-saving skills that can be effectively applied in real-life emergency situations.
The session commenced with an informative presentation on fire safety, where trained professionals explained the common causes of fire accidents, methods of fire prevention, and the importance of remaining calm during emergencies. Students were introduced to various types of fire extinguishers and were taught the correct technique for operating them using the PASS method—Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep.
The First Aid Session focused on providing students with basic life-saving knowledge. Experts demonstrated the correct procedures for managing minor injuries such as cuts, nosebleeds, and fractures until professional medical assistance becomes available. Students were also informed on Cardiac Arrest, Heart Attacks, and their identification and introduced to primary treatment methods. Interactive sessions involving students performing CPR, Heimlich manoeuvres, and basic bandaging were held. Students were also made aware of the contents of a first aid kit and the significance of administering immediate care while ensuring personal safety.
Interactive demonstrations and practical activities encouraged active student participation. Volunteers were given opportunities to practise basic first aid techniques under expert guidance, making the learning experience engaging. The resource persons also emphasised the importance of remaining calm, seeking adult assistance promptly, and contacting emergency services whenever required.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session during which students clarified their doubts regarding emergency response, disaster preparedness, and first aid procedures. The session successfully enhanced students' confidence in responding to emergencies and reinforced the school's commitment to creating a safe, secure, and well-prepared learning environment. Overall, the Fire Safety and First Aid Awareness Session proved to be an informative and enriching experience.
